This month we have been very busy, Pumpkin Week, Hedgehog Week, French Day, learning about St. Catherine, painting poppies, creating Nativity displays and Crib Blessings... as well as our daily learning, exploring and investigating!
YEAR 1: Year 1 have completed their first Science topic - Animals Including Humans. In this unit we learned about human and animal bodies, considering differences and similarities. The children engaged in a variety of activities including drawing and labelling the body, using their senses to conduct a survey, describe animal bodies and sort animals into groups.

June 2024
Our school trip to Maryport Aquarium and Allonby beach - we had an amazing day!
May 2024: we have had lots of different weather this month, sunshine, hot spells and even torrential rain! However, the Reception children always love water play, their experimenting and investigating leads to lots of mathematical play. We have also taken part in our May Procession, taking flowers to the statue of Mary and celebrated Pentecost.
April 2024: during Seed Week we have been planting seeds in our garden, investigating seeds in fruits and vegetables and creating pictures. We have been outside in the beautiful sunshine, made patterns in nature, measured length and height as well as creating Pentecost artwork for our R.E. display.
March 2024: we have been vegetable printing, visiting the Library Van, celebrating World Book Day, investigating Science Week, learning fencing skills and playing football with Shaun @ No7 Coaching. This week we explored Holy Week, doing lots of crafts, working in our House groups and eating hot cross buns!
February: We enjoyed our tractor visit, even sitting in the driving seat! We have been playing hockey, baking bread (reading the instructions by ourselves) and learning about the artwork of Georgia O'Keeffe, inspiring us to paint large scale spring flowers and an oil pastel study which are displayed in the hall.
January 2024: Happy New Year! We have been exploring shapes in the ice, making junk models, acting out the story of Jesus presented at the temple, noticing growing shoots all over our garden, snow writing and lots more!
December 2023: making snow angels; Nativity pictures and models; building snowmen; performing the Nativity story; the Reindeer charity run; Christmas dinner and lots of festive fun!
